Sleep Apnea and Snoring Relief

Sleep Apnea and Snoring Relief

For many individuals in the Northwest Oklahoma area, snoring and sleep apnea are real issues. Many are looking for sleep apnea and snoring relief through dental intervention. Although snoring is one of the symptoms of sleep apnea, and many believe it is more of a funny quirk than a real medical problem, sleep apnea is severe and debilitating problem. At Kingfisher Dentistry and Braces we are committed to staying ahead of the curve and serving our patients through state-of-the-art methods and this includes sleep apnea and snoring relief.

Though snoring doesn't always indicate sleep apnea, our trained professionals are able to assess the severity of our patients' sleep disorders through an evaluation.

Treating Sleep Apnea and Snoring

There is one way to treat snoring and sleep apnea, and that is through oral or dental devices. These devices come in many shapes and sizes and our Kingfisher orthodontist can recommend one that is perfect for you.

One device that can relieve the impact of sleep apnea is the mandibular advancement device. This particular piece is normally used to treat sleep apnea and resembles a mouth guard.  It works by pushing the lower jaw down and slightly forward, allowing the airway to become unclogged and open, making breathing easier.

Another option to help with sleep apnea is a tongue-retraining device. This piece holds the tongue in the correct position and in doing so keeps the airway open.  Read more about sleep apnea, snoring, and relief at http://www.dentistryiq.com/articles/2013/11/using-oral-and-dental-devices-to-treat-snoring-and-sleep-apnea.html
